Identify web sites that can be used as resources for the classroom. Identify Information Problem Solving Frameworks such as the Big6 Skills.
Write activities that connect to curriculum for web sites that are all ready completed. Identify and explore educational resource sites to find resources for classroom use. 
Identify the main components and uses of a WebQuestin the classroom.

Grading is on a 10 point scale. 
A = 90-100
B = 89-80
C = 79-70

Evaluation/Expectations:
1.  Do your best work.
2.  Choose your project early.  Choose a project that will benefit your teaching/profession. The number one requirement for the final project is that it is USEFUL to you and your teaching.
3.  Complete assignments in a timely fashion.
4.  Ask if you need help or have any questions.
5.  Make your final project "pretty".  Make sure it is word processed, with proper grammar, spelling, etc.
Frequently Asked Questions
What happens if I am NOT able to join the listbot?  Some schools and servers do not allow you to join listbots.  IF you are NOT able to join the listbot, you have two alternate choices:
1.  Send the assignment via e-mail directly to me at thebarn@netins.net
2.  Send the assignments all at once in one envelope to me through the US Mail.
When are assignments due? Assignments for this class are due to be POSTMARKED by April 14th. 
What happens if I have a question? Call or e-mail me.  If you are having troubles and it is an "emergency" please call me at school at 712-943-8782 in the afternoon.  I have voice mail there so please leave a message.
How do I know if I am done with the course?  You will need to complete assignments that add to a total of 100 points.  There are MANY points available, so pick and choose to best meet your needs.

Be sure that ANY time that you are working on this course that you record your time on your time log.  It is important for me for record keeping and for you so that you realize that the time you spend on line is equal to the time you would have spent in the classroom.

Compare and contrast two different processes for designing information-based projects.  Your assignment is to write a comparison in the form that you like best.  One way to do this would be to list the 8 Ws and see where the Big 6 fits in.  Are
there steps that you like better in either of the processes?  Why?  You will need to mail this assignment to me.

Find a general Internet site that would direct your students to good information about a topic that you teach.  Write a BRIEF summary and activity.  Please submit to the LISTBOT at atoz2000@listbot.com OR e-mail this directly to me at thebarn@netins.net OR if e-mail is giving you problems, send it directly to me via US Mail in your assignment packet. The main focus of this assignment is the Web Quest.  The Web Quest is one very exciting way to USE the internet as a tool for student learning.  Read more about Web Quests.  You may decide to create a polished Web Quest for your final project.  Visit the sites listed below to gather the background information needed for Web Quests.  Write a simple Web Quest of your own for this week's assignment.  It does not have to be in finished form of any kind.  This is just a trial run for you to see how it works and the benefits it can have for your classroom.  Send this to LISTBOT.  atoz2000@listbot.com  OR complete a paper copy and send it directly to me with your assignment packet.  Please write the TOPIC of your web quest and your last name.  EXAMPLE:  Civil War-Little.

As you have experienced in this class, listservs can be a tool for professional development. Locate a listserv in your subject or interest area.  There are listservs for Early Childhood, Educational Technology and Librarians.  One address for locating listservs is at the URL http://tile.net/lists/   From this site you can
locate lists of interest to you.  Choose one list to subscribe or join.  Write to our group and tell the address of the list and your rationale for joining.  Be sure to save the directions from the list so that you can unsubscribe easily if you need to do so.
