Purpose:
Participants explore six steps to great literature-technology connections.  The goal of this class is to encourage reading by showing the students author facts, themes and other interesting information about books on the Internet.  Participants can use this course to help prepare information about authors, publishers, themes, and curricular connections for their classrooms.

Activities:
  • The participant will select a book(s) to build literature/computer connections.
  • The participant will search for author and illustrator information for the book.
  • The participant will search for book information that may be all ready completed.
  • The participant will identify topics and resources using themes, key words, ideas or elements from the book that may be of interest to explore.
  • The participant will develop a meaningful activity(activities) related to the book(s).
  • The participant will implement and evaluate the activity.
Assignments and Grading:
Grading is on a 10 point scale.  90-100= A, 80-89= B, etc.  Please keep record of your points that you have earned.  This will help you to see that you have completed all of your work.  If you submit the assignment, assume that you have earned all of the points unless you receive a message stating otherwise.  :-)  Please don't let grading hold you back.  Make the class fun and useful for YOU!  PLEASE print this syllabus and use the assignment outline below to serve as a checklist to help you record your work as you go!  Keep record of your points.  Note point values next to each assignment.  There are three required assignments, TIMELOG, ACTION PLAN, and EVALUATION.  The remaining assignments you will pick and choose to best meet your needs. 
TIME LOG  5 points REQUIRED
Print and complete a timelog to reflect 15 or more hours.

Browse the course syllabus and make a TENTATIVE action plan for what you hope to accomplish for the class.  There are more than 100 points so choose those assignments that will best meet your needs.  E-mail the action plan with a brief introduction to me at thebarn@netins.net
