TIME LOG
You need to keep a time log that reflects a minimum of 15 hours.  You should keep record of the time that you are at the on-site class.  Also record any time that you are on line, reading, or working on the class assignments.  Many people log 25-35 hours. You can access a time log on line at http://academic.wsc.edu/redl/classes/tami/timelog.html or you can design one to meet your needs.
REVIEW OF BASICS OR MULTIPLE INTELLIGENCES
If you need to review Internet Basics, please go to this link http://academic.wsc.edu/redl/classes/tami/atbasic.html.  This is a helpful source if you need some extra basic skills help!

Review of Multiple Intelligences...go to the web page http://www.multi-intell.com/  Here is another good resource for Multiple Intelligences.  http://www.geocities.com/Athens/Ithaca/5818/mibrlinks.html

Spend some time there.  See if you can identify the Intelligence that you use most in your classroom.  See if you can identify your primary intelligence(s).  This is an excellent source for information on Multiple Intelligences.  Type a summary of your learnings.

ACTION PLAN
You will write a plan of what you hope to learn, discover, or goals you wish to accomplish after completing the course.  Upon completion of the course, you will evaluate if you were able to complete your action plan.
INFORMATION LITERACY
Explore the links. Write the definition of information literacy.  Write how this applies to your classroom or teaching situation.

LESSON PLANS
Locate a variety of lesson plans using the RESOURCES link.  Choose 1 lesson plan and write HOW you will use the lesson plan in your existing curriculum.  Be sure to include the URL of the lesson plan. OR  Choose one web site.  Write the Internet address, the title and a plan for how you can use it with your students.  You may even create a worksheet, a scavenger hunt, or a parent page to supplement the site.  There are some great starting points at Kathy Schrock's Guide for Educators Education Resources page.
ERIC
Go to the address http://www.indiana.edu/~eric_rec/  Browse the address.  Draw a Graphic Organizer or write a summary of what you discover there!
EVALUATE A WEB SITE
Go to the Kathy Schrock Guide for Educators for an evaluation page.  Print the evaluation page for the grade level you teach.  Use the page.  You can hand write or type your answers.  Evaluate one web site of your choice about English/Language Arts.  Be sure to list the URL (the address) of the page you are evaluating.  You can do this evaluation by printing a copy and writing on it with pen or pencil OR copy and paste the evaluation form and type in the answers.  Either is fine for this assignment.

OR  You could use the Web Evaluation sites at
http://www.siec.k12.in.us/~west/edu/rubric1.htm
http://www.siec.k12.in.us/~west/edu/rubric2.htm
http://www.siec.k12.in.us/~west/edu/rubric3.htm

SELL A SITE
Choose one MUST SEE site from the RESOURCES link to sell to your colleagues.  Write a sales pitch making sure that you include the URL of the site.  You may use the same page that you evaluated for assignment 7.  Be sure to "type" this assignment so that it is neat for your colleagues.
FINAL PROJECT
You choose your final project.  The most important requirement is that it is beneficial to YOU!  Here are some of my ideas.  If you have some...feel free to e-mail so I can add them to the list.  Here is a web site that lists the kinds of web pages http://www.siec.k12.in.us/~west/online/kinds.htm

  • Write a Web Quest
  • Write a Scavenger Hunt
  • Make a Parent Information Page
  • Create a list of useful sites for a theme unit
  • Make a Power Point project
  • Create one of many different kinds of web pages
  • Write a letter to parents telling them how you will use the Internet in your classroom.
  • Identify 5-10 sites that connect to a unit or theme. Include the URL and a brief summary for each site.
  • Create a hotlist that contains 10-20 sites that will help you throughout your school year.
  • Write a lesson plan or unit using the Internet as a tool.
EVALUATION
The evaluation is online at the URL http://academic.wsc.edu/redl/OnLine_Evaluation.html.  If you are taking the course through Wayne State College, please follow the directions on line.
