Jeff Johnston

Director Profile:
Teaching: Biology 102, Spring 1999
Jeff is serving as the Director of Instructional
Development and as an Associate Professor of Biology. Jeff came to Wayne
State College from the United States Air Force Academy where he had served
as the Academy's Director of Faculty Development and as an Associate Professor
of Biology. He holds a Bachelor's degree in Fisheries Science
from the University of Washington, a M.S. in Animal Science from Washington
State University, and a Ph.D. in Human Nutrition from Colorado State University.
Jeff retired from the U.S. Air Force as Command Pilot with over 4000 flying
hours. At the Academy, he was an instructor pilot in the De Havilland Twin
Otter, flying in support of the Academy's parachute program. Besides his
current work in faculty development and Total Quality Education, Jeff
is interested in diversity planning and assessment. His current research
is focused on critical thinking. As co- investigator on a USDA Challenge
Grant titled "A Computerized Autotutorial to Facilitate Critical Thinking
Skills for Evaluating Nutrition Information," he is currently developing
a critical thinking website with faculty members from the Cal Poly,
San Luis Obispo, and the University of Idaho, Moscow, Idaho.
He and his wife, Linda, are now living in Grenada.
