| Instructional
Improvement Grant (all
full-time tenured and tenure-track faculty are eligible): Preference
will be given to faculty not previously holding instructional improvement
grants and to faculty members applying for grants to begin new projects.
Instructional improvement grants are typically used to fund projects that
have direct impact on classroom instruction. No award will exceed $2000/3
hours of release time to be taken in the spring term. No funds will be
awarded on a multi-year basis. Faculty having multi-year projects should
reapply on an annual basis.
Division Grants (all
academic units are eligible): Proposals may be submitted by any of
the Academic Divisions for projects or materials that will benefit student
instruction. Division grants are typically used to fund collaborative projects
which have a direct impact on instruction. Faculty members are encouraged
to develop cross-disciplinary projects with individuals, including
part-time faculty, in other departments, divisions, and U.S. Conn Library.
Funds may not be used to purchase instructional materials that are typically
funded by division budgets. No funds will be awarded on a multi-year
basis. Faculty having multi-year projects should reapply on an annual basis.
Foundation Grants:
The Wayne
State College Foundation annually
funds nine $1000 faculty support grants.
Six Faculty
Renewal grants are awarded to tenured
faculty members and are typically used to fund projects directly related
to the faculty member’s discipline. Funds may not be used to complete a
doctoral dissertation or an advanced degree. Recipients awarded renewal
grants in the previous five years are ineligible.
Three New Initiative
Grants are
awarded to untenured faculty members. These grants are typically used to
recognize teaching and research excellence. Recipients awarded new initiative
grants in the previous year are ineligible.

Five Wayne State
College Foundation Teaching-Learning Awards
Tenured/tenure track faculty are eligible for
five $2,000 awards for projects which promote the intellectual development
of students.
