Dr. Christensen teaches class piano,
applied piano, and music technology at Wayne State College in Wayne, Nebraska.
She holds a BA in music from Weber State University, an MM in Piano Performance
and Pedagogy from Southern Methodist University, and a Ph.D. in Music Education/Piano
Pedagogy from the University of Oklahoma. She studied pedagogy with Sam Holland,
E. L. Lancaster, and Jane Magrath. She studied piano with Ed Gates, Alfred
Mouledous, and Mary Ray Johnson. Dr. Christensen is active in the Music Teachers
National Association (MTNA), where she serves as the Nebraska State Competitions
Chair. She is an active clinician, giving frequent presentations for the Group
Piano/Piano Pedagogy Forum, the National Conference on Keyboard Pedagogy,
and MTNA, as well as for regional music organizations. She has been published
in Keyboard Companion and the Piano Pedagogy Forum, and served as an educational
consultant for the 2000 edition of The Music Tree. In addition to her regular
academic schedule, Dr. Christensen has been a faculty member at many summer
piano camps focusing on music technology for children, and has also been musical
director and pianist for many theater companies in Washington, Utah, Tennessee,
Oklahoma, and Texas.
