Course Description:
Development of a complete
rehabilitation program for a variety of populations following injury/surgery.
Course will focus on use of common therapeutic exercise equipment and manual
techniques.

Course Objectives:
- To understand and
apply the basic mechanical and physiological principles of rehabilitation.
- To understand the
healing process in the development of progressive rehabilitation programs.
- To demonstrate
the instruction and provide rationale for the use of various therapeutic
exercises and
manual rehabilitation
techniques. - To understand and be capable of setting and achieving the
appropriate goals/principles of a rehabilitation program.
- To be capable of
understanding numerous rehabilitation techniques for specific body parts
and injuries.

- There will be 3-5
exams given throughout the semester, including the final covering lecture,
laboratory, reading, and any handouts given. The exams will consist
of a variety of questions including multiple choice, fill-in-the-blank, short
answer, essay, and case scenarios.

- Each student will
be required to thoroughly develop a complete rehabilitation program and research
paper for a common sports injury. This project will be published to
the internet prior to the end of the semester. Click here

- I will have in class
activities and homework assignments that will count for points. If you miss
class, you miss the points. You will also be required to present presentations
on topics that the instructor assigns throughout the course of the semester.
