Course Description:
Emphasis on musculoskeletal evaluation and management.  To include structural and postural anomalies and injuries.

Textbook:

Required: Arnheim's Principles of Athletic Training A Competency-Based Approach, 12 Edition (ISBN: 0072971088). William E. Prentice. McGraw-Hill, pub. 2006.

Course Objectives:

  1. To develop a thorough knowledge of the muscle, bone, ligament, and tendon structures of the body.
  2. To expose the student to various injury evaluation and physical examination skills.
  3. To observe and identify common signs and symptoms associated with common injuries, illnesses, and predisposing conditions.
  4. To introduce the student to various modalities, exercises, and equipment used in treatment and rehabilitation of an injury.
  5. To provide the student with the knowledge of standardized record keeping methods.
