Course Description:
A course designed for the improvement of agility, speed, power and strength.  Training includes sprint training, plyometrics, resistance training and other current training strategies.  This course is intended for students seeking training for pre-employment physical performance tests, or students wishing to improve sports performance.

Course Objectives:

  1. To provide the student with an understanding and appreciation of basic assessment techniques used in athletics.
  2. To expose the student to proper lifting technique, breathing, and spotting associated with a variety of strength and power activities.
  3. To provide the student with the knowledge to develop a comprehensive training program that will successfully meet one's needs and goals.
  4. To provide the student with an understanding of the value of setting challenging yet realistic training goals and logging program progress.
  5. To provide the student with experience in basic reaction, speed, agility, quickness, and plyometric drills.
  6. To provide the student with the knowledge to monitor and adjust training programs as needed using the above techniques to optimize improvements as well as add variety to training routines.
Evaluation: Percentage of Grade
   Attendance and class participation 75%
  Written log and program modification 15%

   Performance and improvement on athletic tests chosen by instructor 10%
Grading Scale:

A = 94-100 A- = 90-93 B+ = 87-89 B = 84-86

B- = 80-83 C+ = 77-79 C = 74-76 C- = 70-73

D+ = 67-69 D = 64-66 D- = 60-63 F = 59-below
