My research interests focus on the ecology and biogeography of non-biting midges (Diptera: Chironomidae), conservation of aquatic habitat, and science education and outreach in Nebraska. As an academician at Wayne State College, I combine my research with my teaching to bring the most current findings in Biology to my students.

current research projects include:
- The Mongolian Aquatic
Insect Survey (MAIS). My lab works on discovering and
documenting diversity of Chironomidae in Mongolia and on the biological
assessment and conservation of aquatic habitat in Mongolia.
- Chironomid pupal exuviae
of Nebraska (CPEN). My lab collects floating pupal exuviae
of chironomids in conjunction with water quality and physical and habitat
parameters to describe the ecology of aquatic habitat in
Nebraska.
- The Wayne State College Museum of Natural History (WSCMNH). The Museum houses numerous specimens of local birds, fish, and mammals and an increasing number of freshwater invertebrates. A complete inventory of the museum holdings will soon be available. The Museum also performs science education and outreach for Northeast Nebraska.
