    [ We've got a new database, the Natural Medicine Comprehensive Database. It is an online reference resource for natural product names, diseases, conditions, or drug name. Also gives product information, effectiveness ratings, or potential interactions with drugs, etc. ]

  • South Entrance, Road Closure

    [ The south entrance is open, and will be the only library entrance for 9 months. The road between Peterson and the Library will be closed at some point next week for construction equipment. ]

The library weathered the storm on June 30th, a few trees fell around the building. ]

  • WiFi, Construction Updates

    [ The main entrance is back open for now and we have a wheelchair ramp. The South Entrance is delayed for at least a week. The library has also been changed over to the new wireless network. wsc-secure has become WSC-Secure and WSC_Guest became WSC-Guest. Documentation on how to sign on is linked in the title of this news item. If you have issues getting on the new wireless network please contact the computing help desk. ]

  • Main Entrance Closing

    [ Demolition work on the Wayne State College Conn Library has progressed to the point where we will need to temporarily close the main entrance. However, dirt work around the new south ramp/entrance is not yet completed. Therefore, beginning Wednesday, June 4, the public will be able to access the library from the maintenance door in the northwest corner of the library. We anticipate that this entrance will be used for the duration of this week. Patrons in wheelchairs who wish to use library services should call the circulation desk (402-375-7258) to make special arrangements. We apologize for the inconvenience, wheelchair access should be restored soon. ]

  • New Art Exhibit

    [ On January 15th, 2014 we will have a new sculpture exhibit from Shannon Sargent. The exhibition will begin with a reception from 4:30 to 6 p.m. The reception will take place in the Nordstrand Visual Arts Gallery and is open to the public. Sargent will also give an artist's talk on his work at 3:30 p.m. in Gardner Auditorium. The exhibition will be on display until Feb. 13. ]

  • Remodeling Update

This collection currently has over 112,000 ebooks in it from a variety of subjects including Oxford University Press and the Royal Society of Chemistry.   • Wayne State College To Present Terry Rosenberg, Presidents

    [ Wayne State College will present the exhibition, "Terry Rosenberg, Presidents." Paintings will be on display from Nov. 7-29. An opening reception will be Nov. 7, from 4:30 to 6 p.m., in the Nordstrand Visual Arts Gallery, Wayne State College. The exhibition consists of a selection of recent paintings (2011-2012) that appropriate the names of American presidents as a primary motif. Rosenberg lives and works in New York City and in Omaha. He was formerly an artist in residence at the Bemis Center for Contemporary Arts. His work is in the permanent collections of the Brooklyn Museum, Smithsonian American Art Museum, Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco, Walker Art Center and the Sheldon Museum of Art. ]

    [ We have started publishing online guides to help students use library resources. This includes a homepage with links to the main library services, a list of new books in popular reading, and subject specific guides for your classes. We've also started offering Personalized Research Assistance, which gives you 30-45 minutes of one-on-one time with a librarian to help you with citations, researching information, and finding a paper topic. ]

  • Name Change! The ITC is now the IRC

    [ The 2nd floor area of the library that houses our educational resources has a new name. Formerly the Instructional Technology Center (ITC), this area has been renamed the Instructional Resource Center (IRC). We believe the new name more accurately reflects the evolving mission of this department, and that the name change will help eliminate confusion about technology support services on campus.
